2 × 100 GPD RO membranes — the workhorses; replace every 2–3 years depending on your tap water
1L mixed-bed DI resin — replace when your TDS meter reads above zero
1 × CTO carbon block — replace every 6–12 months
1 × PP sediment filter — replace every 6–12 months, or when you see visible discoloration
Keeping up with filter changes is what keeps your water at zero TDS. If your tap water is high in sediment or chloramines, check the prefilters more often.

What's included in a Sea Cardinal turnkey kit?
Every kit ships with the low-iron glass AIO aquarium, a matching stand, return pump, backup mixing pump, wavemaker, heater, ATO, hydrometer, reef salt, and a mixing bucket. Rock, sand, and water are not included — everything else is. If you ever have a question about what's in your box, just reach out and we'll walk you through it.
Is shipping really free on kits?
Yes — freight shipping is included in the kit price anywhere in the continental US. There's no surprise charge at checkout. Free shipping over $100 applies to accessories; tanks and kits already have freight built into their price.
What does the warranty cover?
Your kit is covered against manufacturing defects — if a component fails under normal use, contact us and we will make it right with replacement parts or a fix, whichever gets your tank running fastest. Please note: the warranty does not cover damage that happens during shipping. To protect against that, add shipping insurance to your order at checkout.
I'm new to saltwater. Is a kit right for me?
